Great news – our bathroom demo has officially kicked off and things are already moving right along. I’ve been meaning to post all of the progress to Instagram, but I just haven’t gotten around to it. I guess you’re getting a little sneak peak now!

I’m so eager to get this project finished (mostly because I can’t stand the amount of dirt construction projects tend to kick up). We’ve tried our best to close off this space but everything upstairs is caked in dust. Maybe I should have waited to start my spring cleaning efforts until things weren’t so messy..

Anyways, I wanted to share all of the new project updates with you. This post is packed with before images, some progress photos, and our initial design details. I’m sure some elements will change along the way, but I think this is a good start.

Bathroom Demo Progress

I already shared a ton of before images in this post here, but I think it’s so much easier to get a sense for the progress when things are right next to each other. Here’s a before and after of the tub alcove:

And here’s a look at the before and after of the shower wall:

I love seeing exposed insulation – it means progress is happening. And doesn’t it already feel so much brighter with the dark floors removed? I can’t wait to see it with the new flooring installed!

Design Details

the primary bathroom moodboard

In case you missed it, here is our mood board with all of our proposed design details. It’s pretty nailed down at this point, and all of the major construction materials have been purchased. I am sure I’ll still make a few small tweaks as construction continues, but for the most part we are about 90% solidified. (You can see all of my sources on the mood board here.)

One area that I will need to be hands-on with is the beadboard install around the vanity. We have some wonky receptacle placements that are going to interfere with the final height of the paneling here, and I don’t want to move any electrical for this project.

Here’s a mockup for what I would like the final install to look like:

We’ve got tile scheduled to go in next week, so I will be sure to share another update once that begins. I’m always a ball of nerves while a project is in construction! I just want to make sure everything goes to plan and things turn out just as I envisioned.

Keep your fingers crossed for me that everything runs smoothly, and drop a comment below to let me know what you think about the vanity updates!
